Bueno, bueno… Pues este año por fin me he animado a participar en Swapetines, un intercambio calcetinero organizado por Pilar (de Tejiendo en la Isla). En un breve resumen, se trata de un intercambio tipo “amigo invisible” en el que durante dos meses tejes unos calcetines para alguien en secreto, con el cual te comunicas en secreto, pero dejando pistas en público y compartiendo tus progresos cada viernes. Al final de estos dos meses, le envías una cajita con los calcetines que le has tejido con mucho cariño, una lanita, alguna pijadita tejeril y algo dulce (o salado, ¡si tu sorprendido/a así lo prefiere!)… ¡Y entonces se revela el misterio! Sorprendedores y sorprendidos conocen sus identidades y todo el mundo tiene un nuevo par de calcetines a estrenar. Suena divertido, ¿no? ¡lo es!
Llevo siguiendo el intercambio desde hace un par de años de cerca porque conocía a gente que participaba. Pero hasta este año no me he animado a participar, porque no sabía si estaría a la altura de tejer unos calcetines para alguien. Sin embargo, este año que ha pasado ha sido un año en el que no sólo he tejido varios pares de calcetines, sino que además tejí unos muy especiales para Anna (@gregoriafibers) – aquí podéis ver el proyecto en Ravelry. Y hoy aprovecho para enseñároslos:
El patrón que elegí para Anna es el Fine and Dandy Socks, de Jessica Gore (The Sweater Collective). Y utilicé unas de sus lanas, concretamente el Classic Sock Kit… Que suele volar en todas sus versiones cuando actualiza su tienda online.
Me encantó tejerlos para ella, y se los envié en un paquete que preparé con mucho cariño. Después de aquello sabía que estaba lista para mi primer Swapetines.
¿Qué te parecen, querida swapetina? ¿Te gustaría recibir unos calcetines así? A mí me encantan con talones y puntas en otros colores. Normalmente tengo un vestuario bastante neutro, pero he descubierto que me encanta que mis calcetines sean un poco más divertidos.
En fin, ¡qué nervios esto de los swapetines! ¡Espero estar haciéndolo bien! Contactos, pistas y todo lo demás. Y hasta aquí, mi primera actualización de viernes de swapetines. El próximo, más.
So, after following them closely for two editions, I finally decided to take the plunge and participate in “Swapetines” – a hand knit sock exchange, host by Pilar (from Tejiendo en la Isla). It consists of a “Secret Santa” sort of exchange, where you knit a pair of socks for your giftee in secret, communicating with them in secret, but leaving hints and showing sneak peeks in public. You need to try to learn as much as you can from their taste, without giving your identity away! You post your progress every Friday, and two months later, everyone receives a box with hand knit socks by their “secret santa”, a skein of yarn, some knitting accessories and a sweet (or savoury) treat.
I didn’t join before, because I didn’t feel confident enough to meet the expectations of knitting a pair of socks for someone else… However, at the end of last year I knit a very special pair of socks for Anna (@gregoriafibers) – you can see the Ravelry project here. And today I take the opportunity to show them to you here (see the pictures above)!
The pattern I chose for Anna was Fine and Dandy Socks, by Jessica Gore (The Sweater Collective). And I used Anna’s Classic Sock Kit… Which normaly flies when she updates her online shop of botanically dyed wonders. I loved knitting them for her, and I sent them in a package that I prepared with much love and care. After that, I knew I was ready for my first “Swapetines”.
I also ask my “swapetine” whether she likes socks like these, with contrasting heels and toes (that I love). I’ve come to the realisation that although I wear a mostly neutral wardrobe, I like my socks to be more a bit wild and fun! I know I live on the verge…
